Your Squid Game Inspired Fits for 2021 Halloween
by HULA on Oct 12, 2021
Have you hopped on the Squid Game bandwagon yet? If you're like us and can't get enough of this bloody (literally) survival Netflix show, here's a little Squid Game set design appreciation post. Its striking visuals -- larger-than-life "children's playground" and the familiar monochromatic costumes had us thinking, 'what if we created Squid-Game-inspired Halloween ensembles for October the 31st?' Keep reading to see what the most-beloved-show-on-Netflix has inspired us to create.

Bright yellow and vibrant orange -- these saturated colours most likely remind the most of us of our childhood toys. But what if your favourite plastic doll turned out to be a life-sized killing machine? This yellow and orange Stine Goya babydoll dress perfectly embodies the supposed innocence of the Red Light, Green Light Doll, pair with some Roger Vivier short block heels and don't forget a couple of knee-length socks to really nail the child-like look. How to make it spooky you ask? Erase your eyebrows with glue and concealer, and apply a bold red lip.Valentino | Red Valentino | Sportmax |
Squid Game Players
Perhaps one of the more effortless Halloween looks you can put together this year. These characters were designed to wear nothing but these green tracksuits from the first game till their last and with only a numbered batch to identify these characters. With nothing other than their sweat, tears and blood, this makes a perfect last minute Halloween costume. Throw on something green, best if they resemble any kind of tracksuit (with stripes down from your shoulders to your wrists and your hips till your ankles) and a pair of "worn out" sneakers. Smudge as much as matte taupe eyeshadow on your outfit, and maybe a few drops of fake blood to show off your "progress" in the deadly Squid Game.Gucci | Jean Paul Gaultier | Alexander McQueen |
The Frontman
Those with a superiority complex, perhaps the Frontman would be your choice of alter-ego of the night. Much like other characters of the show, the Frontman only has one distinctive outfit -- all black and leathered up. Perhaps an indirect representation of how sadistic the Frontman is, he is always in black leather head-to-toe. To fully capture the essence of this character, you can never go wrong with an all-black outfit, completed with a structured black coat to symbolise your status and a pair of leather gloves as most glamourised murderers would wear to ease their conscience when they carry out their deeds.Balenciaga | Louis Vuitton | Celine |
The Guards
Did you know that the opposite of green is red? The creative director of the show has strategically given red to the Guards as their main colour to contrast their stark difference from the players, who are only seen with green. Red is your go-to colour for this outfit, complete with a circle-marked black mask.Philosophy | Red Valentino | Valentino |
The Recruiter
Unmasked and suited up, the Recruiter is one of the only characters on the show that don't cover up their faces. This "costume" is perfect for those in corporate, who are rushing to a Halloween party afterwork. Complete with two Valentino coloured leather bracelets to represent the Recruiter's squares.
