What are you working on?
What aren’t we working on! I run the design studio out of our New York office and oversee the look and feel of the work for most of our clients. We’re also opening an LA office so currently meeting amazing talent out there and building the team.
If you were only allow a few designer brands to wear, who would they be?
I’m a big fan of Kenzo and Opening Ceremony, always fun. For smaller independent designers, I love Adam Selman! He has great throwback references with a modern twist and his materials are easy breezy. In a dream world: Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent and Valentino dresses.
How has music influenced your creativity?
I’m always thinking about music when I’m doing any film or video project. It completely informs the entire piece! We also always have music playing in the office, there’s nothing worse than a silent work environment, it definitely spurs conversation and collaboration.
What would be the one iconic designer piece you would hunt for on HULA?
A Saint Laurent Monogramme bag. I’m obsessed with the iconic logo.
What is the one piece in your wardrobe you would sleep in if you could?
My black leather Isabel Marant skirt. It looks great in any season, dressed up with a silk blouse for a meeting or dressed down with a vintage tee and sneakers.
What inspires your style and the work that you do?
Contemporary art and design. Going to galleries, museums, and art fairs constantly makes me reconsider colors, textures, and patterns and how I can incorporate them into my own life (work or otherwise!).
What are your earliest memories of being inspired by someone's style?
I obsessively watched Clueless as a kid and would try and coordinate my outfits to match like Cher Horowitz. Still dream of having the computer controlled closet one day…
What is your most treasured vintage piece you have ever found and how did you come across it?
I found my favourite pink Acne sweater at a second-hand shop in San Francisco. I almost couldn’t believe it when I took it to the register.
How would you describe your style?
Graphic, classic, easy, fun. I love vintage and weird one-of-a-kind things. I wouldn’t be caught dead with the “It” bag that everyone else has!
What is your favourite quote of all time?
“All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much.” – George Harrison
