INTRODUCE BOLD COLOURS INTO YOUR DAILY LOOKS

by Marga Cheng on Jul 27, 2022

From runway fashion to instagram infleuncers, we’ve seen a lot of striking colors over these last few months. While it’s clear Bold colors are in right now, there's a bigger reason than just fashion. A driving factor recently is something called ‘Dopamine dressing’. If you haven’t heard of it yet, this term was coined by Dawnn Karen, aka “The Dress Doctor”, who argues that wearing bold colors and celebrating your own individual style boosts your mood. Donning an outfit with a pop (or multiple pops) of color or mixing in sequins and bold prints into your wardrobe encourages us and those around us to express ourselves rather than sticking to our usual set of neutrals.

To help you on your journey of self-expression, Hula has rounded up a few steps to introduce those bold colors and prints into your wardrobe. Check them out below!

Introduce a Statement Piece

There are many different statement pieces to introduce into your wardrobe. From a colorful watch to a bright bag, pick one that reflects your own personal style and is the most functional for you.

Pick a Print

If a bold, solid colour isn’t something you’re comfortable with, try different prints and textures. Don’t be afraid to pick up a large polka dot shirt or a shimmering skirt. Try to mix and match louder patterns with quieter ones to create a cohesive, yet striking look.

Go All In

Try to go all in full-on monochromatic. Match your bold coloured dress with a pair of similar coloured pumps and bag. If you’re opting for yellow, we’re almost certain that it’ll brighten up your mood.

Just Be You

Pick a piece that truly speaks to you. Introduce a piece which reflects your mood right now or even just your favourite colour. Don’t be afraid to stray from colours and prints you’re used to wearing.

Scarf It Up

There are so many different kinds of scarves to play with. Adding any of them, either a large scarf over your shoulder or even just a small silk scarf around your neck, will introduce a touch of personality and can be a gateway to introducing more colour later on.
