What is a Capsule Wardrobe?

A capsule wardrobe is a carefully selected number of items, typically somewhere below 50, which are meant to comprise versatile pieces that can easily be mixed and matched. This means that you narrow your closet down to a minimal number in order to make it easier to throw on an outfit. It’s also a great way to refine your style and invest in items that really matter!

What are the Benefits of a Capsule Wardrobe?

Curating your wardrobe to a certain number of key pieces saves not only time, but a lot of brain power in the mornings. Plus, capsule wardrobes are more sustainable. Rather than picking out items you’re only going to wear once or twice, a capsule wardrobe will encourage you to pick out timeless items which can be more over and over again.

How to you build a Fool-Proof Capsule Wardrobe

When building your capsule wardrobe, It's important to keep your personal style in mind, being realistic about the type of clothes you’d actually wear! It's also recommended that you buy high-quality pieces, which will last you longer than fast-fashion (one-time wear) items.

According to Caroline Rector, the modern day queen of capsule wardrobes, it’s best to adhere to a golden number of 37 items to last you around three months. Also, Rector suggests finding a good balance between adding in new items to and selecting key pieces from your current collection of clothes.
