Did you know that Hermès' "first customer", according to the founder's great-great-grandson, "was a horse"? In order to honour our Hermès drop from last week, we decided to do a trend story on something horse-related -- Equestrian fashion. Everything from black leather gloves, tall leather boots, and even low-cut dresses, these trendy equestrian pieces are ready to resurface from the depth of our wardrobes and take the centre stage as the temperature drops. Here are some tips for the chicest Equestrian style, both functional and visually pleasing.

The Sidesaddle Look. Women wearing sidesaddle was often associated with good taste, virtue and highclass. After all, riding sidesaddle allows female in particular to sit aside in a "modest fashion" while wearing skirts or other types of fine clothing. Luckily, sidesaddle riding has become more of a specialty niche in the modern world, where riding astride isn't exclusively a male activity. For dress lovers and casual riders, you can get the best of both worlds, like Bella Hadid pictured above, in the modern age.

Keep it tight. Having loose pants or sleeves may present some troubles when they interfere with your riding. We're keeping it tight with a chunky belt, but careful not to choose clothing too tight which could cause discomfort. For an equestrian daily look (definitely not when you're actually riding), opt for our heeled Gucci brown leather boots with the Horse bit buckle (as a horseback riding symbolism). For actual horse riders in action, protect your feet from slipping in the stirrups with a minimum of a half inch heel.

Layers are important. Instead of wearing one thick layer, opt for multiple thin layers, which allows you to strip off a layer at a time when horse riding gets heated. Our fav layering tip is to either pair a turtle neck or a collared shirt to add extra dimensions to your outfit!

Figure hugging blazer. Opt for a second-skin-fit blazer with minimal weight, you're aiming for an almost figure-hugging fit that won't weight you down. To incorporate the horse riding look into your daily life, add a wool cap to capture that English-style riding vibe. To complete the formal English riding look, keep it classic with shirts, preferably with collars.
