With Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s time to get those date night looks in order, even though we are absolute advocates that those several candle-lit nights shouldn’t be reserved for Valentine’s alone. With that in mind, we’ve put together some of our favorite date night look styles — ones which you probably always adhere by already and ones which might be worth trying out this year. Happy looking your best for yourself and your special someone!
A little black dress is the safe and always winning solution for your romantic night out. Pair it with a nude lip for a bit of mystery, a crimson one for a bit of sexiness and a dark lip for some rockstar chic.
Who said you couldn’t spice up an office look so it could let you go seamlessly from conference day to date night? Corporatewear never looked so good with fitted dress falling right below the knee paired with heels, or wide legged or cropped pants accompanied with a sleeveless top. If the top is too revealing or air-con unfriendly for daytime, you could always pair it with a mock-neck top underneath or throw over a blazer for the daylight hours.
Who doesn’t love a date with champagne and nibbles on a checkered blanket? Time to feed each other strawberries and channel your running-through-the-fields-picking-flowers look with dresses of light-weight fabrics and flowy skirts.
Having dinner with the in-laws? Time to put aside the plunging neckline tops and body-con dresses (unless you have really cool in-laws which we congratulate you for). But dressing for the elders doesn’t mean boring dressing — think Meghan Markle on press tour or Victoria Beckham on… a daily basis. Midi skirts and dresses are key here, paired with a flowing coat and simple heels.
Nothing better for getting the heartbeat up on a date like a bike ride, a fun fair or music festival. Look cute and don’t wear heels! There are plenty of outfit options that combine comfort and aesthetic — aim for an interesting pair of sneakers, a flirty skirt and oversized sweater. Throw on a pair of shades incase you end up watching the sun-rise together.
Flowers and romance? Not the most groundbreaking , but hey, whoever says they don’t like flowers might be lying! Wearing florals is also the perfect wedding-guest outfit and when your new date invites you to one, it’s gotta be a good hunch… so let it bloom (excuse the pun)!
