Anyone who has had the pleasure to meet Kim will always be in awe of her impeccable style, amazed that she has 3 kids and how cool and collective she always is! With 15 years in the fashion industry under her belt, she has no doubt mastered the right temperament, whilst staying on top of every detail. For a decade Kim worked directly with Phillip Lim in New York; creating collections, spearheading collaborations and defining the core essence of the brand. Kim then relocated to Hong Kong, where she currently works at Pedder Group as Director of Fashion & Special Projects, and has now taken the additional role as Fashion Director of #Legend magazine.

How would you describe what you do?
I am a style director – I imagine, make suggestions, edit, and refine.

What do you love about what you do most?
Style is such a fun expression of one self.  I love the possibilities and that nothing is permanent. I love the feeling of inspiration and hope that in what I do, this feeling gets passed around.

When did you first gravitate towards the industry?
I have always had an interest as a child, but had to compromise with my parents to go to business school while finding my way into the industry.

What was the most memorable purchase that defined your teens?
A pair of Charles Jourdan shoes. This was during a time when Guy Bourdin was shooting the campaigns. They were black clogs but done in this chic and tailored way. Even the heel was covered in leather. It was such an iconic shoe brand that wasn’t super mainstream.

Who is your favourite designer?
Phoebe Philo – because she gets the essence of perfect/imperfect to the core.

What is your favourite song of all time?
Fleetwood Mac – Dreams.  The 70s would be my spirit animal if I could.

If you could resurrect a designer, who would it be?
Yves Saint Laurent – there is a part of me that is a glamour puss and he does glamour so well.

You have three children, how on earth do you remain so calm?
Cocktail hour. Also I love what I do.

What is your favourite city to loose yourself in?
Tokyo. Easiest place to be invisible and where the care to detail is like religion.

How do you think technology will change the industry?
I think that technology will enable people to take matters in their own hands and not have to deal with how historically industries have had to operate and bring a lot of transparency to the levels of creativity or authenticity globally. I worry about how fleeting everything is because of the speed of technology, design happens so quickly now that it doesn’t have the luxury of being thought-out.
