New year, new boots

As we step again into yet another new year, it’s hard to remember there is still another few months until we could slip into summery sandals. New year might still see an old you because you’re fabulous already, but it wouldn’t hurt to try on some new boots. Here are some of our favourite timeless styles to try in the new year.

Knee high boots are a timeless classic that you could reinvent with different styling over and over again. Pair with jeans for a casual look, and with a wrap dress just above the knee for a more elegant take. For those looking to have a fun afternoon or night out, style with shorts or short jumper, layering that with a long coat. The possibilities are endless!

Over the knee boots are perfect with skinny jeans and a sweater, they are also excellent for transitioning short skirts into the colder months. Leave just a little bare skin between top of the boot and hemline of skirt, throw on a coat and you’re ready to go.

Flat boots look less elevated than their stiletto and block heel counterparts, but you can actaully wear them all day! So styling is everything when wearing heeless boots. Flat above the ankle boot would go perfectly with a midi skirt paired with a sweater, while flat knee high boots would fare well with pencil mini skirt, such as one fashioned out of plaid. When in doubt, pairing it with jeans always work!

Ankle boots have a problem at times with making ankles look chunky and visually shortening the leg, but with the right styling, it would be easy to wear these weather transiting shoes. Try wearing them with the cuff of jeans rolled up, or with a maxi dress. If these booties have heels, try pair with them with a pair of flared pants for some va va vroom.

With Vetements’ launch of the sock boots came an obsessions with ankle hugging ankle boots – and they are perfect for those who are afraid regular ankle boots might make ankles look big. Pair these sock like boots with a midi skirt for an instantly classy yet modern look. For something mores casual, try pairing with distressed jeans. This trendy boot style is both flattering to the silhouette and hip to boot.
