Style Insider — Jessie Li, Travel Blogger

by HULA , May 4, 2018

Jessie Li is a fashion, lifestyle, travel blogger and digital influencer from Australia and Hong Kong. She is also one of the four stylish influencers hosting our GET LUCKY WITH HULA pop up in May. We caught up with her recently to talk the ability of fashion to elevate and empower women, time travel and more!

What is it about fashion that you love?

“You can be gorgeous at thirty, charming at forty, and irresistible for the rest of your life.” Coco Chanel once said. Fashion is like our second layer of personality. The way we dress not only shows our personalities but can elevate our mood and energy. That’s the beauty and power of fashion that I love.

If you could only wear one designer or brand for the rest of your life — who/which would it be?

Although I am often seen in very glamorous or edgy styles on many occasions, I’m a minimalist at heart. If I could only wear one brand for the rest of my life, I would say Theory. It’s simple, minimal, yet stylish — empowering women and boosting their confidence. Every time I put on a set of Theory suit, I feel like a #girlboss. During my investment banking days, I used to restock my closet at Theory almost every month.

If you could have one superpower, what would that be?

I would love to be able to time-travel and experience fashion, art, and literature in different eras. It would be amazing to travel back in time, especially to the early 30s and 40s. If I could travel back in time, I would love to be a part of it and make an impact on every period of time I travel back to. James Dean once said “Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.” It would also be amazing to be able to travel into the future as well to see what I could achieve or who I could become then, and see if there is anything I could do differently today to shape for a brighter and bigger future for myself tomorrow.
